If you’re looking for a sexy restaurant in Vancouver, one that feels more like an evening than a meal, Monarca is built for it. The dining room in Gastown is dark, warm and draped in greenery. The music sits under the conversation at dinner and rises later in the night. You can choose a quiet early table or a later one that rolls into the DJ set.

What to order for two
- To share first: Ceviche Verde with golden snapper, the Tuna Tostada, or Bison Tartare.
- Mains: Braised Short Rib with coffee and cherry mole, Wild BC Salmon, or the 10oz New York Steak.
- For the table: the family-style Striploin, Chipotle Prawns and Tuna platter (minimum two).
- Cocktails for two: The Skull (Volcán Blanco, blueberry, chocolate bitters) or Quetzalcoatl (Hennessy, Aperol, passion fruit), both served to share.
- To finish: Churros with chocolate ganache and dulce de leche.
Pick the right night
Wednesday (half-price select wine bottles) and Sunday are the most intimate nights. On Thursday, Latin music starts at 10pm, and on Friday and Saturday DJs turn dinner into a night out. Happy hour runs Wednesday to Sunday, 4–6pm, if you want to start early.
