A Birthday Dinner That Turns into the Party
Shareable platters, cocktails for the table, sparklers when the moment comes, and on weekends a DJ to carry the night. Birthdays are the most common reason people book Monarca.
Why people choose Monarca for birthdays
A birthday at Monarca isn’t dinner followed by a search for somewhere to go next. The night happens in one room. You start around the table with family-style platters and cocktails, toast the guest of honour, and on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays the music builds into a night out.
Food and drinks for a celebration
- Family-style platters (minimum two): Guajillo Chicken & Skirt Steak, or Striploin, Chipotle Prawns & Tuna, priced per person so a group can share easily.
- The Tomahawk Platter: a 48oz tomahawk with half chicken, chipotle prawns and sides. A centrepiece for the table.
- Cocktails to share: The Skull and Quetzalcoatl serve two, plus margaritas and a deep tequila and mezcal list.
- Bottles & sparklers: bottle service and VIP tables for the bigger celebrations. See bottle service.
Pick your night
- Wednesday: Wine Wednesday. Select bottles of wine at half price all night. A relaxed midweek dinner.
- Thursday: Provenza Thursdays. Dinner first, then Latin music takes over the room from 10pm.
- Friday: Friday Nights. Resident and guest DJs playing house and deep house as dinner turns into the night. Open until 3am.
- Saturday: Saturday Experience. The full night: dinner, DJs, bottle service and a room that runs until 3am. Book early.
Booking a birthday group: what to know
Celebrations go best when the plan is clear, so here’s how it works:
- Table times. Dinner reservations have a set table time, which we confirm when you book. Please arrive on time: a table can be released when a party arrives very late.
- Staying into the night. Later in the evening some tables become bottle-service tables. If you want to keep a table through the DJ set, ask about a VIP table when you book.
- Dress code. Monarca is an upscale room. Dress for a night out.
- Groups. For groups, email your date, headcount and occasion to Reservations@monarcavancouver.ca so we can plan the right table and timing.
For groups, the more detail you send (headcount, arrival time, whether you plan to stay for the DJ), the better we can set up the night. See group bookings for larger parties and private events.
